The National Teleut Celebration of Unity to be Held in Kemerovo Region

On July 12 at teleut ethnic site in the village of Shanda the regional national teleut celebration of unity "Tele-Kaan" was held devoted to the completion of the II International Decade of indigenous people of the world.

The celebration was organized by the Department of culture of Gurievsk municipal area and KROO "The Association of Teleut People "Ene-Bayat" with the support of the Department of culture and national policy of Kemerovo region.

Teleuts are indigenous small-numbered nation of Russia, its representatives live mainly in the southern areas of Kemerovo region.

The aim of the festival is to revive traditions and customs of teleut people, preserve national kinds of sports, promote healthy lifestyle, spiritual and moral education of young people.

The festival programme includes the competition of national camps "Men Tyadysh", the contest of national teleut clothes and hairstyle "Tyarash kys" ("Beautiful Braid"), a contest of national teleut rite.

Out of competition programme features a concert of folk groups, exhibition of decorative-applied art "Folk motives", a photo exhibition "Teleuts – the Past and Present".

Besides, competions in national kinds of sports of teleut people (wrestling, archery, tug of stick, weight lifting, team running relay, etc.) are part of the event.
